The transmission is responsible for transferring power from the engine to the wheels. It allows the car to adjust its speed and torque (the force that turns the wheels) by shifting gears. There are three primary types of transmissions:
- Manual Transmission: Also known as a “stick shift,” it requires the driver to manually select gears using the clutch and gear stick.
- Automatic Transmission: Shifts gears automatically, offering a smoother and easier driving experience, particularly in stop-and-go traffic.
- Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT): A newer type of transmission found in many modern cars. It doesn’t use traditional gears, instead offering an infinite number of gear ratios to improve fuel efficiency and acceleration.
